In the Holiday Spirit, Craft Brewers Guild Donates
The Children's hospital at Mass General is going to need more wrapping paper. On December 17th over 130 toys, all donated by Craft Brewers Guild staff, were delivered to MGH. Naturally, we took the opportunity to build a giant mountain of all the toys and take pictures with it. The toys ranged from art supplies, board games, and dolls to battery-operated cars and will be distributed by hospital staff to children and families in their care. “Some of the items will be given as gifts to our children and families during the holiday season, while other items will be stored and utilized during the year as birthday presents, end of treatment presents, and the like,” said Heather Peach, Child Life Specialist in the Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Unit at MGHfC. “We typically treat more than 100 patients in a given year.” The donation comes shortly after a pre-Thanksgiving employee food drive which resulted in 1,115 canned and dry food goods that were donated to Everett's Connolly Center, which is an emergency food pantry and community center.
