The canned wine trend is heading to new heights. JetBlue, in a new partnership with Archer Roose, has begun serving the company’s canned sauvignon blanc inflight, and will soon follow with the brand’s rosé offering in the spring.

This partnership is the latest from JetBlue, showcasing the airline’s ongoing commitment to delivering industry-leading product offerings that embrace consumer trends, allowing customers to enjoy the products they love on the ground, while they’re in the air.

“We believe that customers shouldn’t have to stop enjoying the products they love on the ground just because they have to catch a flight,” Mariya Stoyanova, director of product development at JetBlue told FORBES exclusively. “With the growing popularity of canned wine among consumers, we’re looking forward to bringing Archer Roose products inflight so JetBlue customers can sit back, relax and enjoy quality wines in an exciting — and sustainable — format during their journey.”

Marian Leitner, co-founder and CEO at Archer Roose, explains that not only does canned wine touch on the consumer-driven trend for ease and convenience of transport, but it also allows for piece of mind as far as sustainability and the environment is concerned. Another thing that is top-of-mind to sippers.

“Sustainable formats (cans) make sense, not only because we believe strongly they’re best for the wine a majority of Americans are drinking, but [they] have a much wider impact of helping brands like JetBlue lessen their impacts on the environment. Aluminum is infinitely recyclable, and significantly more efficient for packing and storage especially in places with limited capacity, such as aircraft. We take great pride in carrying sustainability beginning with how the grapes are grown all the way through the vessel of consumption,” she says.

And, the partnership has an even deeper meaning, said company officials. JetBlue chose to team with Archer Roose as the airline is Boston’s largest carrier, the same city in which Archer Roose is based.

Archer Roose sauvignon blanc is a bright, citrus-forward classic from Chile’s revered Casablanca Valley. It will be available on JetBlue flights for $8 per can.
